Septic pumping in Rock Hill SC

Honey Wagon Services has pumped septic tanks across York County for more than forty years. Same family, same trucks, real prices given on the phone before we roll. If you think you are due, or your alarm is going off, call us at 803-328-1410.

What septic pumping actually involves

Septic pumping is the process of vacuuming the solids and liquid out of your septic tank so the system can keep treating wastewater the way it was designed to. Most Rock Hill area homes outside the city sewer footprint run on either a conventional gravity septic or an aerobic treatment unit. Both kinds need to be pumped on a schedule. As a rule of thumb, a family of four on a normal 1,000 to 1,500 gallon tank should plan on a pump out every three to five years.

When our truck pulls up, we locate the lid, dig the riser if it is buried, and measure the sludge and scum layers so you know where the tank stood before we touched it. We pump the full tank, not just the top, scrape the walls, check the inlet and outlet baffles, and look for any obvious problems while we are in there. We leave the site cleaner than we found it. Every load is hauled to a permitted disposal site with a GPS log on the truck, so the paper trail is clean for anyone who asks.

Most homes outside Rock Hill city limits, and a lot of the older neighborhoods inside the city, run on septic. Same goes for rural York and most of Lake Wylie. If you bought a house and the previous owner could not tell you the last time the tank was pumped, treat that as "pump it now and start a clock." We will also flag anything that looks like it needs more than a pump (a failing baffle, a cracked lid, a drain field that is not draining) so you know what is coming before it becomes a weekend emergency.

Pricing and timing

We give a clear price on the phone before we roll the truck. No surprise fees after we show up. The price depends on tank size, access, and how much digging is involved, so the honest answer always starts with a quick conversation.

Most jobs are scheduled within 2 to 4 business days. If your tank is backing up or the alarm is sounding, we run emergencies same day when the route allows.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I pump my septic tank? +

Most homes in York County need a pump out every 3 to 5 years. Smaller tanks, larger families, or homes with a garbage disposal usually fall closer to the 3 year mark.

What are the signs I am due for a pump out? +

Slow drains across the house, sewage smell in the yard, gurgling toilets, spongy ground over the tank, or a screaming alarm on an aerobic system. Any one of those is a call.

What do I do if my septic alarm is going off? +

Quiet the alarm at the panel if you can, then call us at 803-328-1410. Most aerobic alarms mean a high water level in the pump tank, and that almost always points to a tank that needs pumping or a failed pump.

Do you pump aerobic systems? +

Yes. We pump conventional tanks, aerobic treatment units, and pump tanks. If you are not sure which kind you have, describe the lids and the control panel on the phone and we will figure it out.

Do I need to dig up my lid before you arrive? +

No. If we can find the lid quickly we will dig it ourselves. If the tank is buried deep or the riser was paved over, we will talk through it on the phone first so the price stays honest.
